DISASTER RECOVERY 101
PROJECT ROLE
Developer & Co-Designer
PROBLEM
The subject matter expert wanted IT associates to understand the severity of the company's cyber security and to know how to effectively perform disaster recovery protocols if they occur. Because disaster recovery is fast-paced and critical, they wanted a course that would convey a sense of urgency but also teach a calmness under pressure. They had two separate roles going through the course and didn't want either role to see the other's information, and weren't sure if that could be done in Rise. They were also fans of my previous 8-bit course and wanted to utilize that visual tyle to appeal to their audience.
SOLUTION
I created a course in Rise that provided all of the information needed at the beginning and then a quiz in Storyline with a timer I created to stress the urgency. I was able to separate the two roles by creating a Choose Your Role lesson at the very beginning and then duplicate each lesson with different information afterward. I also created the quiz with the 8-bit style with an alien invasion theme based on a request by the primary subject matter expert. Unfortunately due to proprietary reasons, I'm not allowed to display the original course. But I'll gladly answer any questions regarding it as best I can.

INFORMATION DOCUMENT
To start, we asked the subject matter expert to provide all of the necessary information and images using Word in the lesson order they would like for it to be displayed in the Rise course. Next, they provided the questions and answers to the Storyline quiz.

STORYLINE QUIZ
I developed the Storyline quiz by creating an 8-bit protagonist and downloading a few 8-bit alien aesthetic assets from Getty Images. I re-created a global timer to be displayed during the quiz and created numerous variables for the activated shields.

RISE
I developed the Rise course using a built in template and replaced the content. After the content was all uploaded, I duplicated all of the lessons for the separate role and updated that material to match the role. I disabled the auto NEXT/BACK buttons and added custom buttons at the end to guide the navigation.
